Watching an episode of Hamilton's Pharmacopeia, this morning....and a few minutes of Darren Aronofsky's film, The Fountain...and, minutes later, finding a copy of Casteneda's book, The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, under a beach towel that I'd had since I was 10......My mind, with only a cup of Java...no toad's venom or synthesized DMT......veered into a Mindset that many, my age....in the late 1960's.....shared......the Mass Delusional Mindset that preoccupied the 'Conscious' thoughts of what we then believed to be an America, transformed by Psychedelia.....Then, minutes ago, sitting on the back stoop, listening to the seemingly countless birds, enthusiastically advertising their genetic worthiness to potential egg-layers, I noticed a half-smoked joint in my driveway and took a couple of totes.....What was in that stuff!......seconds later, I was peeling the view to see what was 'beneath' ........and now, I'm sitting, wrapped in the old, ragged towel......contemplating how long it will take for the fresh, green liriope to emerge from last years decaying leaves.......

THIS AFTERNOON, THREE YEARS AGO, I SPENT ABOUT A HALF HOUR DISINFECTING, THEN CLEANING "IT" OF BLACK MOLD, VARIOUS FUNGI AND MILDEW.....AND DRYING THE WARPED LINEN CANVAS WITH A HAIR DRYER....JUST TO SEE WHAT THE HELL "IT" WAS 'ALL ABOUT'......THEN, SUDDENLY, '"IT" ALL CAME BACK': "WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT'......FEELING A BIT OF NOSTALGIA, I PHOTOGRAPHED "IT", SURROUNDED IT WITH A VIRTUAL FRAMING JOB....AND....HERE...IT "IS", UNBUCKLED AND 'RESTORED...DIGITALLY'.....AT THE TIME OF ITS CREATION.....1966, WHILE I WAS IN ONE OF PURYEAR MIMS' ART CLASSES AT VANDERBILT.....I WAS THINKING: "SOON, I WILL BE A GREAT ARTIST or WRITER or PSYCHIATRIST, or FASHIONISTA.......AND MY WORKS WILL HANG IN GALLERIES, ALL OVER THE WORLD!".....
